Raised on the Golden Isles of Georgia, painter and sculptor Rio' captures the wildness and movement that are the hallmark of that particular space where water meets land. Rich, vibrant colors in oil and acrylic are splayed against darker backgrounds to produce a perfectly orchestrated dance of color and light. The paintings seem to breathe with a life of their own, conveying a vigor and movement that is truly stunning. Known also by her stage name, Dawn Gable, Rio’ is an accomplished composer and song writer, and her musical gifts permeate her visual creations. Forms are lyrical and fluid, and move together in harmonious rhythm, creating a masterful symphony for the eyes. In fact, she has composed songs to accompany much of her visual work, and that confluence of color and sound saturates every inch of the paper.
Also a gifted sculptor, Rio’ infuses passion and spirit into her work. What results is a world that is at once mystical and beautiful, and which can’t help but draw us in.
