In rich earth and jewel tones, Paul Cavilla paints scenes of human struggle, emotion and growth. His work evokes a sense of fairy tale or fable; a metaphorical drama as it is experienced by the individual. Rather than simply painting an atmospheric scene, Cavilla evokes a story and gives meaning to his painting. The viewer is drawn into the event, captured by a combination of whimsical rendering and his abundant use of paint. For the most part, Cavilla works with a palette knife. His technique is loose and painterly, lending a feeling of motion and dynamism to all his works. Paul Cavilla has worked as a professional mural artist since earning his degree at the Ontario College of Art in 1991. He has exhibited his work widely in Canada, the USA and Europe. He currently divides his time between Toronto, Aix-en-Provence and Barcelona.
