In creating her quietly powerful imagery, Marianne Fernandez at times starts out with an image in mind, while at other times she taps into a subconscious creative urge, and the image gradually reveals itself. Her style, like her work process, varies: she has painted surrealist images, abstracts and landscape acrylics and pastels. Experimenting with different techniques and materials is vital to Marianne's work, and her creative process is ever-evolving. Whatever style she chooses, however, the sensitive arrays of color and form are always present.
Whether the mood is whimsical or contemplative, there is always a thematic richness which speaks of a respect for the visual world that provides her with inspiration.
