Maria Trezzi

With her use of found text and mainstream media images, Italian artist Maria Trezzi graphically creates collages that are passionate landscapes of the imagination. The inspiration for her unique style is the visual beauty she strives to create with her overall composition, moved as she is by the hope of experiencing balance and tranquility through art. While her finished product is subjected to computer scanning, Maria values the hands-on aspect of creating these collages with scissors, paper and glue. Her work is both strikingly original and strongly rooted in the time-honored ways of creating visual art, but she is not beholden to any tradition that has come before her.

Her commitment to cultural critique and cutting-edge visuals combines in Maria's digital collages to create stunning and provocative surreal worlds of sensory details. Her desire to unearth long-lasting, true values in today's media-fueled world is dynamically evident in these visceral images, which invite us to scrutinize ourselves, our values and our world.
