 
Living and working in Bogotá, Ivan Hurtado Lorenzo uses oils and acrylics on canvas to create an artistic language that straddles the social and personal realms. A reflection on both the diverse cultures and ideologies that compose his native Colombia and his personal quest to better understand the configuration of the human body in dimensional space, Lorenzo’s work focuses squarely on forms that sometimes flow and at other times are abruptly intersected by chasms of empty space. His bodies are faceless, nameless, sometimes appearing amplified and full of life, and other times flat and truncated.
What results is a careful exploration of the intricacies of human nature and how it converges, diverges, and intersects with the material and spiritual dimensions — a foray into those borderlands where matter is confronted with emptiness. Here the human body leaves the realm of the personal and is rendered rather an object of reference, a virtual mapping of the different worlds which humans inhabit. Ivan Hurtado Lorenzo's work has been published in Colombia and exhibited in Venezuela, Colombia and New York.
