The competition is open to all visual artists 18 years or older working in any media with the exception of video art, film and performance art.
The exhibition will take place in Chelsea , New York City. Agora Gallery will be donating it's share from all artwork sales to UNICEF - please visit http://www.unicef.org to learn more about the organization and how it is helping to improve the lives of children all over the world.
Juror:
Tina Kukielski, senior curatorial assistant at the Whitney Museum, New York City. Ms. Kukielski has recently curated The New City : Sub/urbia in Recent Photography (2005-06). She is currently authoring the artist chronology for the Matta-Clark exhibition catalogue and is organizing the forthcoming retrospective of the work of Gordon Matta-Clark (2007).
Awards:
- Exhibition- 15-20 Artists will participate in a collective exhibition at Agora Gallery 530 West 25th Street, Chelsea, New York City Exhibition - August 11 to August 31, 2007
Artist Reception - August 16, 2007
- Cash - $1000 will be awarded to three (3) artists each receiving $500, $ 300 & $200 respectively
- Internet Promotion - Six (6) artists will be awarded placement of 6 images on www.Art-Mine.com for a period of one year
- Review by an art critic - One (1) artist will be awarded a one-page review with two (2) color images in ARTisSpectrum Magazine

Please be advised that the submission deadline for the 2007 Chelsea International Fine Art Competition has been extended to March 19, 2007 in order to provide you with the time that you need to complete your submission. We thank you for your patience and cooperation.
April 15th - Results will be announced

Online Submissions:
The preferred submission method is online. However, your chances of being selected are the same whether you submit online or by mail. Since we use high-resolution imaging technology on our website, we will need high quality image files of your work in JPG format not exceeding 1MB (1024kb) per image.
Mailed Submissions:
All mailed work will be judged exclusively from slides or photographs.
Do not mail a CD of your work - use our web site to submit image files.
Number each image according to the entry form.
Slides must be 35mm regular slides - do not send glass or metal slides. Mark each slide with your name and telephone number and indicate the top of the work with a red dot. Identify each slide with a title / number, media, and size of artwork.
Photographs must not exceed 8x10 inches. Mark each photograph with your name and telephone number and indicate the top of the work with a red dot. Identify each photograph with a title / number, media, and size of artwork.
Participants must include a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) with entry to insure return of submission,

Entry Fees:
Online submissions - $35 for up to 5 images, $5 for each additional image.
Mail submissions - $50 for up to 5 images, $5 for each additional image.
The competition fee must be included with the submission.
The fee can be paid by credit card, check or money order. If you are paying by check, the check MUST be from a US bank. If you are paying by money order, the fee MUST be in US dollars.

Commission structure on work sold:
The gallery‘s commission structure is 70/30, the artist receives 70% of the List/Retail price and the gallery receives 30% of the List/Retail price.

Agora Gallery, its officers and agents will not bear liability for any loss or damage to any work while in transit to or from the gallery
While on our premises - Your artwork will be insured, while it is on
our premises, to a maximum value of up to $10,000 per
artwork. It is your responsibility that your artwork will be adequately wired and ready to be hang.

Fee related questions:
- Aside from the entry fee, will there be additional charges?
The artist is responsible for all shipping charges to and from the gallery.
- Can I send you the competition-fee in cash?
The competition fee may only be paid by credit card, check or money orders - US banks only.
- Can I send you the competition fee by Western Union ?
Agora Gallery cannot accept payment by Western Union. However, you may buy a money order at Western Union in US $ and mail it to the gallery.
- Will Agora Gallery artists have to pay the entry fee?
Yes - an independent juror will curate the competition.
Miscellaneous questions:
Should the dimensions of the artwork listed on my entry be the outside framed dimensions or the dimensions of the artwork itself?
Include only the outside framed dimensions and if the artwork is sculpture, include the height, width and depth
Is there an age limitation to the competition?
You must be over 18 years old to participate in the competition.
Must my entry be received by the deadline date or postmarked by the deadline date?
Your entry must ARRIVE at the gallery no later than the deadline date.
Do you need an artist's resume and statement with the entry form ?
We want to give a chance to everybody and therefore the competition is judged solely from visuals - if you are selected as a winner we will need the biography/resume and statement for the exhibition.
Is digital work accepted?
Digital artwork will be accepted on the condition that if selected for the exhibition the artwork must be printed on high quality paper and framed. When sending the images you must let us know what the framed dimensions are.
Can I enter online?
Yes, online submission is the recommended method. You can join our mailing list and we will send you the link when the competition opens. Please have JPGs of your artwork prepared. Each individual JPG must not exceed 1MB in file size.
Can you view my submissions through my web site or do I need to send separate photos or images?
We cannot review your site for this purpose. You can right click on your images, save them to your hard drive and then use them to enter the competition online.
What are the dimensional limitations?
Maximum dimensions for two-dimensional artwork is 96" x 96" inches = 250 centimeters x 250 centimeters
Maximum dimensions for three-dimensional artwork is 96" x 96" x 40" = 250 centimeters x 250 centimeters x 100 centimeters
Can artwork that is not for sale be considered for the competition?
No - all participating artwork must be available for sale.
Can detail slides be submitted, or will there be an extra fee for the additional slides? (Multiple views of the same piece)
Multiple views of the same piece can be submitted without an additional charge. There will not be an additional fee added to slides submitted showing different views of one piece. The additional fee of five dollars will be added for every piece of artwork after the first five pieces that are submitted.
May I submit original pieces for consideration?
We will only accept slides, photographs or JPGs (online submission only) for consideration in the competition. DO NOT SEND ORIGINAL ARTWORK.
Is there a time frame in which the work must have been produced?
There is no time frame in which the work must have been created. The work must be available during competition exhibition dates, and must be available for sale.
If the artwork doesn't sell, will it be returned to the artist?
Yes. The artist is responsible to pay for the return shipping of the artwork
Will the judging be based on actual artwork or will it be based on the slides/photographs that are sent?
Judging will be done from Slides, Photographs and Image Files (JPG format only).
Are numbered Giclee prints accepted for the exhibition?
Giclee prints will only be accepted for digital and photographic work.
How many pieces will I be able to exhibit?
If you are selected for an exhibition, you will have approximately 10 linear feet of wall-space on which your work will be displayed. The Juror will select the artwork that will be displayed.
Do you arrange the customs entrance of the work being shipped?
No. You will have to arrange it. Most shipping companies can take care of this for you.
Does the work have to be framed?
The work must either be stretched "gallery wrapped" style (without any staples showing or framed). Framing services are available and may help you save some of the shipping costs.
